Dance bar bar, but watch out for Age BAR

Dancers irked by age limit.

A decision by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), not to sponsor foreign performance tours for classical dancers aged above 45, has provoked nation-wide protest. More on this in our next issue.

SRUJANA – Abhinava Dance Space

Abhinava Arts Centre opened their dance space – SRUJANA on 11th May 2003. The dance space is located at Basavangudi, Bangalore.

Performance ABroad

Bharatanatayam danseuse Padmaja Suresh, recently toured Hungary and Spain to present to the European audience the best of Indian dance. She was sent on behalf of ICCR as India’s cultural ambassador.

SHIFT

Artists from India, U.K. and of several nationalities and ethnic backgrounds collaborated to create an interdisciplinary piece ‘SHIFT’ exploring the topical theme of migration and experiences of migrants in all their cultural diversity, as they face challenges in life.

This piece was choreographed and performed by our own Madhu Natraj Heri along with other artists. This show was premiered at Watermans Arts Centre, Brentford, London on 3rd of May 2003.
